Capital Credit Union recently announced that CEO Alan M. Zierler decided to retire after 39 years of service. Zierler’s leadership of the credit union and impact on the community has been exceptional according to Capital Chairman of the Board Paul Patterson. With Zierler’s departure, Capital president Tom Young will serve as president and CEO. Young previously served 25 years as president and CEO of Pioneer Credit Union, and has been in the credit union industry for 36 years.
Community First Credit Union has announced that Michael St. Marie and Jeff Venable have joined the team of financial advisors, registered through CUSO Financial Services L.P., at Community First Financial Advisors. St. Marie, a New London native, has more than seven years of previous investment experience. He will meet with members at the Greenville, New London and Nicolet branches. He will also be available by appointment at the FVTC branch. Venable, an Appleton resident and a U.S. Navy veteran of 26 years, has more than five years of prior investment experience. He will have office hours at the Richmond, Darboy and Ballard branches. He will also be available by appointment at the Kimberly branch. Each will offer comprehensive financial planning, IRA solutions, 401(k) rollover options or retirement income planning to Community First member/owners.
Kathi (Arneson) Beyer has joined First State Bank’s staff as the consumer banking manager of its Clintonville office. She comes to the bank with more than 17 years of banking, mortgage and consumer lending experience. Trevor Szutkowski joined the bank as a business banking officer. Szutkowski will work with farm and business clients primarily in western Waupaca and eastern Portage Counties. Szutkowski has more than 12 years of experience on farms with 50 to 500 cows.
ThedaCare family physician Dr. Kelli Heindel received the 2015 Family Physician of the Year Award from the Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians. Heindel has been a family physician for more than 20 years and sees patients at ThedaCare Physicians-Appleton North, which is located inside Encircle Health. She also volunteers at a local clinic providing care to underserved patients and serves as a mentor to students thinking about or pursuing a career in medicine. Heindel’s colleagues at ThedaCare Physicians-Appleton North also praised her leadership as the practice’s assistant medical director.
ThedaCare welcomes Dr. John-Jeremiah Kretchy, an internal medicine hospitalist who will provide care at Appleton Medical Center and Theda Clark Medical Center. Kretchy earned his bachelor’s and medical degrees from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He completed residency training at Columbia University Medical Center. Kretchy’s professional affiliations include the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American Heart Association and the American Society of Bariatric Physicians.
ThedaCare has named Laura Reed as its first chief nursing executive. She will oversee the ThedaCare nursing staff, working to enhance the consistency, quality and safety of nursing practices across ThedaCare, along with giving staff members the necessary resources to take their care to the next level.

Nate Bricco of Appleton recently joined ThedaCare Medical Center-Waupaca in the CT and Radiology Department. Bricco was one of 10 graduates of the Theda Clark School of Radiologic Technology who passed the National American Registry Radiologic Technologist Board Exam with scores that exceeded the national average. Bricco scored in the top 1 percent of the nation.
Home Builders Association of the Fox Cities recently welcomed Cathy Skell as its business development specialist. Among other duties, Skell will be working with new and current members to get the most out of their HBA Fox Cities’ membership. Skell joins HBA Fox Cities from Knight Barry Title Services.
Barb Merry, Realtor with Coldwell Banker The Real Estate Group’s John Street office in Appleton, has been awarded Emeritus Status by the Council of Residential Specialists, the largest not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors. Realtors who are granted CRS Emeritus Status have maintained membership in the Council for at least 25 consecutive years. Merry is a senior broker associate. The CRS designation has been awarded to only 3 percent of Realtors. A CRS has completed advanced training and demonstrated outstanding professional achievement in residential real estate sales.
Werner Electric Supply recently named Bill Kocha as Controller. In this new position, Kocha will be responsible for the development and implementation of financial management budgets, goals, policies and procedures. He will also lead all aspects of business systems, accounting processes and procedures. Kocha comes to Werner from Sturm Foods Inc. Kocha is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and is a certified public accountant.
Miron Construction Co. Inc. recently made two new hires at its corporate headquarters in Neenah. Melissa Kissinger joined Miron as a controller. In this position, she is responsible for overseeing all daily accounting and financial reporting, developing and supporting business metrics and monitoring and managing cash flow to support the business. Prior to joining Miron, she served as a controller with a northeast Wisconsin construction company and also as manager at Baker Tilly in Appleton. Bill Schaller was hired as an industrial estimator. Bringing 20 years of experience in the construction industry, he is responsible for performing estimate take offs and preparing construction budgets for hard bid project opportunities. He will also study project plans and specifications, solicit bids from subcontractors and suppliers, and evaluate material and labor costs to prepare and present the most accurate and cost-effective estimate for the overall project cost. He previously served as a project manager for a construction company in Wisconsin.

Chris Weister was hired as a personal trainer and Lynn Nichols as a yoga and group fitness instructor. Weister will focus on functional and metabolic training to maximize calorie burn. Ariens Company has named Ginger King president of its Ariens Specialty Brands business unit. ASB is a distributor of specialty equipment, supplies and gear, serving niche outdoor segments through direct marketing brands. The business unit has operations in Madison and Janesville, Wis., Jasper, Ind., and Melbourne, Australia. King was previously the vice president of human resources for the company. Prior to joining Ariens she held several HR positions at Kohler Co. in Kohler, Wis. and Serigraph in West Bend, Wis. In a related move, Chuck Basting was promoted to vice president of human resources. He was previously the director – talent and total rewards for the company.
The Fox Cities Regional Partnership recently hired Rob Peterson as its new director of existing industry services. In this role, Peterson will conduct on-site interviews with corporate leadership to build productive relationships and identify needs, challenges and opportunities associated with doing business in the Fox Cities. His previous work experience includes Pierce Manufacturing, Metso Paper, Plexus and Thilmany.
McMAHON announces a recent addition to its staff of engineers, architects and project managers at the firm’s headquarters in Neenah: Reed Schmechel joins the environmental and infrastructure department as an AutoCAD designer. Reed graduated from Northern Wisconsin Technical College with a degree in Civil Engineering Technology. Reed will assist McMAHON with plan development in the environmental, municipal, storm water, surveying and utility areas.
