The African Fashion and Arts Awards (AFAA) has announced its exciting new initiative, the “AFAA Shopping Festival,” a vibrant 3-day event designed to elevate Africa’s creative economy.
The festival will take place from May 1st to 3rd, 2025, at the prestigious Silverbird Gallery in the Central Business District of Abuja.
This immersive experience promises a dynamic fusion of commerce, art, creativity, and entertainment, featuring two key highlights: the AFAA Shopping Festival itself and AFAA-Xpression, a compelling art exhibition showcasing contemporary African artistic expressions on canvas.
According to Mr. Kingsley Amako, the Founder and CEO of AFAA, this initiative comes as AFAA approaches its fifth anniversary.
He stated that the organization’s vision has become clearer, its impact deeper, and its commitment stronger towards empowering creatives, connecting markets, and reshaping the global perception of African talents.
The AFAA Shopping Festival is set to be a bustling marketplace featuring over 100 brands. Alongside this, AFAA-Xpression will present a diverse collection of contemporary art, including paintings, digital installations, photography, sculpture, and multimedia works. The exhibition will explore thematic concepts around identity, heritage, futurism, and sustainability.
Attendees can look forward to pop-up stores, interactive installations, brand activations, games, discounted items, and numerous shopping vouchers as giveaways. The event will also feature dedicated networking zones, providing valuable opportunities for buyers, influencers, investors, and emerging creatives to connect and collaborate.
“We’re not just celebrating creativity — we’re investing in it, scaling it, and exporting it to the world,” affirmed Mr Amako, highlighting the broader vision behind the festival.
The AFAA Shopping Festival promises to be a significant event, offering a platform for showcasing African talent and fostering growth within the continent’s creative industries.
