Pupils of Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School in Tugan Bijimi, Kawu Ward, Bwari Area Council, Abuja, have been left to learn in cracked, roofless classrooms with no desks, no chairs, and no ceiling boards.
The school, located in the FCT, is plagued by severe infrastructural decay, leaving young children to sit on bare floors under leaking roofs, while struggling to receive lessons from an understaffed teaching workforce.

“Our team visited LEA Primary School Tugan Bijimi, Kawu Ward, Bwari Area Council, FCT, Abuja. What we saw was deeply disturbing. The entire school is in a dilapidated state: leaking roofs, no ceiling boards, and crumbling classrooms.”

“Pupils sit on bare floors to learn. There is no furniture, no desks, no chairs, just children doing their best in an environment that sets them up to fail. Education should not look like this, especially in the Federal Capital Territory.”
“The school also lacks adequate teaching staff. With so few personnel, learning is severely limited. These children are eager to learn, but they need the right support and resources to thrive.”
“This is not just a school issue, it is a matter of justice and basic human dignity. No child should be forced to learn in such terrible conditions. The future of these children is at stake.”
Monitng called on the FCT authorities and relevant education agencies to urgently rehabilitate the school, provide teaching materials, and assign qualified teachers to give the children a fair chance at learning.
