The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has delisted four Computer-Based Testing (CBT) centres and arrested 27 impersonators during the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Abuja.
This was revealed in a statement issued to journalists in Abuja on Friday, April 25, 2025, by the Board’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.
Candidates who had been scheduled to take their examinations at any of the affected centres were advised to immediately reprint their examination notification slips.
“We regret any inconvenience this may cause, but candidates who fail to reprint their slips will not be excused,” Dr. Benjamin cautioned.
He explained that the CBT centres were delisted for failing to meet the stringent technical standards required for the UTME exercise.
The delisted centres are Adventure Associate, behind Sheshe Supermarket, off Hadejia Road, Kano, Kano State; Saadatu Rimi College of Education, Zaria Road, Naibawa, Kano, Kano State; Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd., Centre 2, 96km Sokoto-Jega Road, Tambuwal; and Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd., Centre 1, 96km Sokoto-Jega Road, Tambuwal.
“While JAMB commends the 883 centres that have demonstrated outstanding performance, it must be stressed that any centre, regardless of ownership, failing to meet ethical or technical standards, will be blacklisted,” Benjamin said.
As of Friday, April 25, 2025, over 900,000 candidates had completed the UTME out of the 2,083,600 candidates registered for this year’s examination, he added.
In a related development, JAMB confirmed the arrest of 27 impersonators who attempted to sit the examination on behalf of others. Dr. Benjamin stated that the suspects had been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for immediate prosecution.
Commenting on a separate incident at Caleb University, Lagos, Dr. Benjamin addressed concerns regarding unauthorised restrictions placed on candidates wearing hijabs. He assured them that swift action had been taken and extended apologies to the affected candidates.
The vice-chancellor of Caleb University reportedly condemned the actions of an “overzealous security officer” who was responsible for the incident.
As part of its wider security operations, JAMB recently launched decoy websites designed to trap individuals seeking to cheat. These fake websites, which mimicked those operated by fraudsters, exposed at least 180 candidates who had paid sums starting from ₦30,000 for leaked examination questions and fake score upgrades.
In preparation for the 2025 UTME, JAMB also disbursed a total of ₦397,030,900 in transport allowances to 1,909 officials who participated in the conduct of the mock examination held nationwide on April 10, 2025.
