League of Northern Democrats Condemns Gruesome Mob Killings in Edo State
Abuja, Nigeria – March 28, 2025 – The League of Northern Democrats (LND) vehemently condemns the barbaric killing of 16 innocent travelers from Northern Nigeria in Udune Efandion, Uromi, Edo State. This horrific act of mob violence, fueled by ignorance and lawlessness, is a stark violation of fundamental human rights and a grave affront to the principles of justice and national unity.
In a document received by VMT NEWS, the LND is deeply troubled by the brutal and senseless nature of these killings, which saw innocent citizens falsely accused, profiled, and murdered in broad daylight. This appalling incident highlights a dangerous rise of ethnic profiling, mob injustice, and the breakdown of law and order in certain parts of Nigeria.

Call for Justice and Accountability
The LND commends the swift action taken by the Federal Government, the Edo State Government, and security agencies in initiating a thorough investigation into this atrocity. We are encouraged by the ongoing efforts to apprehend both the perpetrators and those who incited this violence.
The LND insists that all individuals involved, from those who carried out the killings to those who failed to prevent them, must be swiftly arrested, prosecuted, and held fully accountable under the law. Failure to do so would be a grievous failure of governance and justice.
Demanding Action
The LND demands the following:
Immediate, transparent, and impartial investigation: The investigation must involve relevant security agencies and human rights organizations.

Swift arrest and prosecution of all perpetrators: This includes individuals who incited, participated in, or failed to prevent the killings.
Stronger measures against mob justice: This is crucial to prevent such barbarity from happening again in any part of Nigeria.
Adequate compensation and support: This includes providing compensation and support to the families of the victims and medical care for survivors.

Call for Unity and Action
The LND calls on all Nigerians to remain calm and avoid resorting to violence. Violence begets violence, and we must not allow the actions of a lawless mob to further divide and destabilize our nation. Instead, we must trust in the institutions of justice and hold the government accountable for protecting all Nigerians, regardless of their background.
This tragedy is not only a loss for the North but a loss for all of Nigeria. We must demand an end to the impunity that allows innocent lives to be taken in such a cruel and inhumane manner. We call upon all Nigerians to join us in demanding justice for the victims. Justice is not negotiable!
