The Nigerian Air Force has commenced aerial display rehearsals in Abuja and Lagos ahead of its 61st Anniversary Celebration scheduled for May 23, 2025.
This was disclosed in a statement on Monday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
According to the statement, the aerial displays are part of activities lined up to enhance the spectacle of the anniversary’s grand finale and to showcase the professionalism and operational capabilities of the Air Force.
Ejodame urged residents of both cities not to panic over the low-flying aircraft and aerial manoeuvres, assuring the public that all exercises are being conducted under strict safety protocols.
“NAF wishes to inform members of the public, particularly residents of Abuja and Lagos, that aerial display rehearsals are ongoing in both cities as part of preparations for activities marking the 61st Anniversary Celebration of the NAF, scheduled for May 23, 2025,” the statement read.
“These aerial manoeuvres are designed to enhance the spectacle of the celebration’s grand finale and to demonstrate the professionalism and operational capabilities of the NAF.
“Residents are kindly advised not to panic but to go about their normal activities, as the rehearsals are carefully planned and executed with strict adherence to safety standards. The NAF appreciates your understanding and continued support.”
The anniversary is expected to feature a series of events, including parades, equipment exhibitions, and air displays to reflect the service’s achievements and contributions to national security since its establishment in 1964.
