The Rotary Club of Abuja Ministers’ Hill, Saturday, conducted a training session for healthcare workers in Jahi 2, focusing on Water, Sanitation, Hygiene (WASH) and disease prevention.
The president, Rotarian Oro-ghene Adia, stated this during a 3-in-1 project on water, sanitation and hygiene and disease prevention and treatment at the Primary HealthCare Centre (PHC) Jahi 2, Abuja.
The training climaxed the club’s commitment to improving healthcare practices and promote a healthy environment.
He said the training covered essential topics such as proper hand hygiene practices, safe water handling and storage, effective sanitation and waste management and disease prevention strategies.
“The facility didn’t have water channel inside, which hindered hygiene and disease prevention. To address this, we installed hand washing stations, connected water to toilets, and provided cleaning supplies. These improvements aim to enhance patient care and prevent the spread of diseases,” he said.
He added that training healthcare workers is crucial to the project’s success, saying; “We’re focusing on two key areas: hygiene practices and client retention. By equipping staff with interpersonal skills and knowledge of hygiene protocols, we can ensure that patients receive quality care and feel valued.”
