If you blinked this weekend, you may have missed one of the strangest price spikes of the year, VOXEL crypto, a relatively unknown gaming token, exploded more than 70% in 24 hours… and at one point, had surged over 200%, outpacing even Bitcoin’s volume on certain exchanges.
The reason? Not fundamentals. Not an airdrop. Not even a gaming release. It was a bug.
A suspected trading bot malfunction on Bitget triggered a cascade of exploitable trades, catapulting the VOXEL/USDT pair into $12.7 billion daily, more than double Bitcoin’s volume on the same platform.
That stat alone is enough to raise eyebrows. But behind it lies a deeper story: technical failure, opportunistic scalping, and rising scrutiny of exchange infrastructure.
On-chain sleuths were quick to identify the pattern. According to analyst Dylan, a rogue Bitget bot was trapped in a tight loop, executing buys and sells between $0.125 and $0.138.
For savvy traders, this created a near risk-free arbitrage opportunity. With as little as $100, some players pulled in six-figure profits in hours before the exploit was noticed.

Bitget has since confirmed an internal investigation is underway, stating that certain accounts may be restricted and that a resolution report will be shared within 24 hours. But the damage is already done.
Users in the Chinese crypto community are particularly incensed. One viral post claims Bitget rejected most withdrawals during the incident, despite some being processed, resulting in heavy platform losses.
The post accuses Bitget of eroding user trust and calls for “technical reform” to prevent a repeat.

This isn’t just a one-off exchange glitch. The incident has spotlighted Bitget’s hybrid custody model and loose position controls, which some critics argue are fundamentally flawed. As one analyst put it, “More altcoins could be weaponized against Bitget if they don’t address this.”
This unfolds as VOXEL teeters on Binance’s “Vote to Delist” program, making the timing even more suspicious to some observers.
Whether it was coincidence, manipulation, or simply algorithmic chaos, a forgotten gaming token suddenly became the most talked-about coin on the market.

Indeed, if VOXEL crypto holders can re-establish a foothold here, the sudden spike may not have been a complete fluke, acting to correct a major drop over April.

And worse still, the sudden spike has severely overheated the RSI momentum indicator, which now reads at 76.5, suggesting further downside is on the cards.
