Suspected kidnapper operating in Abuja, Kogi, Nasarawa nabbed – Daily Trust

A suspected kidnapper operating in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and two other neighbouring states of Kogi and Nasarawa was arrested on Saturday by members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN).
The suspect, identified as Ibrahim Usman, was reportedly nabbed in Takalafiya community, in Kabusa District of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
In a video recorded by the group and sent to Abuja Metro, the suspect was seen being interrogated by the AMAC Vigilante Commander, John Samuel, where he disclosed how he participated in a series of kidnapping operations around the axis.
The suspect, who is an indigene of Zurmi LGA in Zamfara State, had initially claimed that he engaged in gold mining in Gaube community in the Kabusa District, where, according to him, he had spent about five years.
He confessed to have been involved in the operations along with five other gang members but that he stopped the criminal activity about a month ago, for mining in Gaube community, where he claimed to be residing now.
He further said his gang had killed some leaders of the villages that they kidnapped in various operations.
Reacting, the vigilante commander in AMAC, John Samuel, said the suspect was arrested during an operation in the area by his team around 10am Saturday, after the suspect had attempted to run away on sighting them.
“We trailed him and arrested him. We took him to our office where he confessed to being a kidnapping gang member,” Samuel added.
The VGN commander further disclosed that the father of the suspect was also arrested after he visited their office in search of his son.
He said his father was held because he was trying to cover up for him by claiming that the son had a mental problem.
“We kept them in our custody first before handing them over to the police in Apo division for further investigation,” the vigilante leader said.
